It is an honor and a privilege to witness clients grow, heal, and establish better relationships. I have intensive training in how to help people manage and overcome obsessive compulsive disorder and hoarding, and I am an active member of the Minnesota Hoarding Task Force. I have also received intensive training in how to help people navigate and resolve marital and couples problems. My goal as a therapist is to help people live their lives in accordance with their values and to help them achieve their goals. I help people understand what is getting in the way of achieving their goals and overcome their roadblocks. I have a special interest in psychological trauma and I am trained in EMDR and CPT, both of which are empirically validated treatments for PTSD.

My journey to becoming a therapist has encountered many twists and turns, but my main focus has been on helping others. My careers have ranged from being a shuttle bus driver to teaching high school social studies. I use this experience and what I have learned in life to inform therapy. My specialty is couples therapy, especially in mid-life transitions. I’m fascinated by how complex we are as human beings and how enriching our emotional and social experiences can be. I find that what’s most helpful in therapy is to take time to find the strength in the individuals and families I meet.

All of the research says a good fit between client and therapist is the most salient factor in predicting success. I work to create one with each client. The goal of the therapy relationship is to provide the support and stability needed to facilitate relief both inside and outside the therapist’s office. I work as a team with clients exploring current issues and how mind, spirit, and body are interconnected. I believe when people have hope and can learn to challenge and replace irrational thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes, they are free to experience change.
